The Most Beautiful Town Square in Texas

Georgetown might be known as the “Most Beautiful Town Square in Texas,” but the Georgetown Visitors Center promises that Georgetown is anything but square! Located in the heart of Williamson County, Georgetown is the county seat of Williamson County; it is the hub of county government. Less than 15 minutes from all of Williamson County’s cities and bisected by Interstate 35, Georgetown is conveniently located in Williamson County in Central Texas.

Georgetown is a great place to enjoy the San Gabriel Riverbank or play a round of golf on one of the five local courses. Biking trails around Lake Georgetown lead riders to the edge of the famous Texas Hill Country. Georgetown’s annual food and arts festivals, independently-owned restaurants, rodeo, nearby wineries, and Victorian commercial architecture are enough to keep residents close to home with plenty of excitement.

“We are a Preschool to Grade Eight parochial school, where Christ is central in every part of the day. We are a foundational center of learning, preparing students for witness and for life, from the earliest grade until they graduate. Our academic program of education is demanding and our students go on to high school fully prepared – most graduating with academic honors. But most importantly, each student at Zion is a Champion for Christ, daily growing in faith and with a desire to witness and serve in their community and world.
Zion is part of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod system of schools that crosses the United States and beyond. We are distinctively Lutheran, thankful to our forefathers within the LCMS for making our Lutheran schools a top priority within our congregations. … more.“

Charter Schools
Gateway College Preparatory School
“Gateway College Preparatory School is an open-enrollment public charter school offering grades K – 12 on one 40 acre campus to students in Williamson County and north Travis County areas.
Gateway Prep is known for its exceptional academic program. An abundance of College Board Advanced Placement (AP) and Pre-AP courses are offered. All courses are taught by certified teachers as defined by the No Child Left Behind Act. There is NO TUITION to attend Gateway and enrollment is open to all students until available seats have been filled.
Smaller and more intimate by design, Gateway Prep offers a public school education that feels and functions like a private school. With a senior class of about 100 – 125 students each year — Gateway is about 1/8 to 1/4 the size of other area public high schools. This smaller size is critical, because it offers a “human scale” to the learning environment, and allows students greater access to teaching staff, resources, and school activities. … more“

Texas Department of Family and Protective Services
“The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) works with communities to promote safe and healthy families and protect children and vulnerable adults from abuse, neglect, and exploitation. We do this through investigations, services and referrals, and prevention programs.
DFPS has five major programs that do this important work:
Adult Protective Services • Protects the elderly and people with disabilities from abuse, neglect, and exploitation through investigations and services.
Child Protective Services • Protects children from abuse and neglect through services, foster care, and adoption.
Child Protective Investigations • Investigates reports of child abuse or neglect to determine if any child in the family has been abused or neglected. If the children aren’t safe, the investigator starts protective services.
Prevention and Early Intervention • Manages community-based programs that prevent juvenile delinquency and child abuse and neglect.
Statewide Intake • Takes reports of abuse, neglect, and exploitation from across the state through its Texas Abuse Hotline (1-800-252-5400) and through the website TxAbuseHotline.org 24-hours a day, every day of the year.
Call the Texas Abuse Hotline if you suspect that a child or adult who is elderly or has disabilities is being abused, neglected, or exploited.

“The City of Georgetown Parks and Recreation Department identified the need to replace a beloved community-built play structure in the city’s signature park several years ago due to its age and deterioration. The previous structure was built in 1993 with over 800 volunteers and over the last 20 years had become a fixture of the community. Staff began the formal planning process in the spring of 2013 with the assistance of Baker|Aicklen and Associates. San Gabriel Park

“Meandering right through the heart of Georgetown are the North Fork and the South Fork of the San Gabriel River. Along the banks of the San Gabriel River where the two forks meet, between the river and Austin Avenue, you’ll find one of the most beautiful parks in the state of Texas.
San Gabriel Park was designated a Lone Star Legacy Park by the Texas Recreation & Parks Society in March 2012. San Gabriel Park is one of only nine parks in Texas to be awarded this designation in its inaugural year. These parks were chosen for their historical prominence within their communities and the state by providing natural respite and social interaction as those communities were founded, developed, and prospered.
San Gabriel Park is graced with 200-year-old oak trees that offer shady spots for family picnics. The 180-acre park also provides space for concerts and festivals, as well as fields for soccer, football, lacrosse and baseball.
A hike and bike trail goes through the park, including a 1.6-mile loop in the park and other segments that connect to Blue Hole Park, Rivery Park, Chautauqua Park, and all the way to Lake Georgetown.
